Jonny O’Mara

Biography

Jonny began playing tennis at the age of 5 at Arbroath tennis club in the North of Scotland and by the age of 12 he was ranked No.1 in the UK.

He went on to have a successful junior career, winning the U16 Winter Cup for Great Britain and competing in the Junior Grand Slams, where he made a last 16 appearance at Wimbledon in 2013.

He went on to make a career high in the ATP singles at 489, winning 1 future title and reaching 3 further finals.

Jonny then moved to specialise in doubles in the summer of 2017 after winning 16 Futures titles. Since then Jonny hasn’t looked back and has gone on to win 4 Challenger titles in Izmir, Bergamo, Surbiton and Orleans. His biggest achievement to date has been winning an ATP title at Eastbourne alongside Luke Bambridge in 2018.

Jonny has also competed at Wimbledon twice, winning a round with Scott Clayton in 2017.

Jonny is currently sitting at a career high ATP Doubles ranking of 70.

Jonny also loves being a part of a team, having won the Winter Cup U16 he has also been a big part of the Great Britain university team who won a Gold medal at the BNP Paribas World University Championships in France in November 2017.

Jonny, is excited about the progress he is making and is looking forward to competing in all the Grand Slam events in 2019.
